Биографија
Prof. Dr. Vladimir M. Cvetković is a university professor and researcher in the field of disaster risk management, employed at the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade. He is the Editor-in-Chief of two international journals: International Journal of Disaster Risk Management and International Journal of Contemporary Security Studies. He has authored more than 350 scientific papers and 30 books, participated in over 150 scientific conferences, contributed to more than 15 national and international projects, and reviewed over 400 scientific manuscripts, with a significant contribution to the organisation of professional trainings in the field of protection and rescue. According to academic citation databases, his publications have received over 6,300 citations, confirming the strong impact and continuity of his scientific work. He earned his PhD at the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade, obtaining the academic title Doctor of Science (Security Sciences). He completed his master’s studies at the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies in Belgrade, earning the degree of Master of Criminalistics. At the same institution, he graduated in 2010 as the top student of his class (GPA 10.00), obtaining the title of Graduate Criminalist. He completed the Secondary School of Internal Affairs for police officers in Sremska Kamenica in 2006, as well as the “Sveti Sava” Primary School in Batočina in 2002. In addition to formal education, he has completed specialised professional trainings and passed professional examinations in the areas of emergency management, protection and rescue, risk assessment, and inspection oversight. Since 2017, he has been employed at the Department for Emergency Management Studies and Environmental Security at the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade. He teaches the following courses: Risk Management in Emergencies, Protection from Natural and Anthropogenic Disasters, Security Risks and Disasters, and Society and Disasters. From 2010 to 2017, he was engaged at the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies, teaching courses including: Safety in Emergencies, Risk Management in Emergencies, Prevention and Suppression of Fires, Explosions and Accidents, Information Systems in Emergencies, and Crisis Management. In 2006, he was employed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia as a police officer in the Kragujevac Police Directorate. In 2025, he was appointed to the academic position of Adjunct Professor at the Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria), within the master’s programme Safety and Disaster Management, for a five-year term, where he teaches the following courses: Preventive Planning and Protective Measures in the Surroundings of Industrial Plants, Critical Infrastructure Protection, and Vulnerability, Stress and Resilience. He is also engaged as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna on the course “Integriertes Sicherheitsmanagement” within the programme “Integrated Safety and Security Management”. He is additionally engaged at the Belgrade Academy of Applied Studies, teaching the course Contemporary Strategies and Civil Protection Systems. In the summer semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, he was appointed as a lecturer at the Faculty of Organisational Sciences, University of Belgrade, on the doctoral course Risk Management in E-Business. During 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026, he was selected as a lecturer in the Advanced Security and Defence Studies (VSBO) programme at the “Vojvoda Radomir Putnik” National Defence School (Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the University of Defence). He is the founder and president of the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management and serves as the Director of the International Institute for Disaster Research (IDR), as well as the Director of the ProSafeNet platform—a global hub for professionals and scientists in the fields of safety, security, risk, and emergency management.
