Jeremić The present paper discusses the legitimacy of creating free extensions of A Tomb for Boris Davidovich into literary and cultural history, distinct from the polemical reading of the sources by Dragan M. Jeremić and the post-philological reconstruction of the textually unconscious of Kiš’s book by Dragan Bošković. Kiš’s story „Mechanical Lions”, especially chapters „The Past”, „The Circus in the House of God” and „The Explanation of the Circus” which establish an intertextual dialogue with the history of Russian art by Louis Réau, will lead us to re-examine the horizon of radical contingency or radical freedom of interpretation. Starting from Louis Réau’s monograph, which inspired Kiš, a method of philological research of A Tomb for Boris Davidovich should be devised, which can take into account the original sources of Nestor the Chronicler, Thietmar of Merseburg, Adam of Bremen, Sieur de Beauplan, Constantine Porphyrogenitus, and others. |
